Noritake Nippon Praying Mantis Ceramic Tankard Moriage Decoration 10.5"H RARE

$4,500.00
Quantity available: 1

Nippon moriage tankard decorated with a praying mantis amongst pea pods and vines.  Very rare, and very collectible, as few pieces were made showing insects.  Shown on page 180 of Van Patten's sixth series on Nippon porcelain.  Stands 10 1/2 "h.  Marked on bottom with blue maple leaf mark, used by Noritake as early as 1891.  In excellent condition for it's age, with a small rub on the back side toward the bottom; 2 moriage dots missing from bottom of handle; and a few tiny dots missing from lip. Sold as is. Pictures shown with and without flash, which shows more of the green tones.  A prize piece for any collection!  Securely packaged and insured.  Inglenook Antiques...Established 1989.
