NIPPON HUMIDOR Moriage SQUIRREL Handle - RARE -

$795.00
Quantity available: 1
Colorful Nippon jar displaying superb decorative workmanship in both the painting and application of moriage.

Hand painted with gorgeous, pink, Art Nouveau style flowers on matte green and patterned ground. Raised enamel moriage patterns and "jewels" used liberally all over the piece, not just on decorative borders. This exuberant piece is topped by a squirrel, also covered with moriage.

Measures 4-1/2 inches diameter. 8 inch overall height

Very Good overall condition. Some of the applied moriage is missing from the bottom rim of the lid (as shown). A tiny bit is also missing from the bottom of the jar.

Circa late 1800s to early 1900s

No markings. Although we found the same piece with a blue maple leaf (mark # 52).
