This is one of the better Civil War Service Posters I have seen. It was presented to Abner W.Johnson who was mustered in from Ontario County,New York State December 18th 1863 and served in Company L 16th Regiment Vol. Heavy Artillery under Captain Dudley and Col. J.J. Morrison. Abner saw plenty of action as the inscription details. For example; on May 29th the record states he engaged the enemy while laying telegraph lines between the White House and the Army of the James May 29th 1864. The inscription also states he engaged in the seize of Petersburg and Richmond,Va from July 27th 1864 to May 8th 1865. This is just a couple of noted examples. The 22 X 28 poster came out of it's original frame with a period print behind it. Just a wonderful piece of Civil War history in every respect.
