Neoclassical Bacchanal Empire Style Gilt and Patinated Bronze Centerpiece in Manner of Pierre Philippe Thomire

Unavailable

This wonderful pair of Empire style bronze centerpieces after Pierre Philippe Thomire (1751-1843) feature the patinated figures of three dancing Bacchic maidens holding batons, supporting pierced baskets decorated with grapevines, and circular pedestals with raised figures of putti with garland and anthemion motifs.  25 by 11 inches (63 by 28 cm).  Overall condition is good. There is obvious oxidation to the gilded surfaces, and scratches and scuffs, all consistent with age, plus a few bends to the reticulated rims of each basket.
