The oil painting by L. Edward Fisher is a clipper ship named " Sea Witch. the ship is hove to off Sandy Hook awaiting a New York Harbor pilot. It is under command of Captain Waterman. The date is July 25, 1847. The Sea Witch was built in New York by J. W. Griffith in 1846 for shipping firm Howland and Aspinwall of New York. Ships hull dimensions were 170' 3" x 33' 11" x 19'. The main nast 83' high. Signed lower left corner.
