Whimsical, hand carved and painted Navajo chicken. Has Hand Fashioned iron rebar feet, carved from one piece block of heavy wood, it is hard to tell what kind, maybe mesquite, or a piece of oak. No signature, Looks to me like a piece carved in the 1938/4o's, because materials that could be used for the war effort, i.e. silver, turquoise, wool etc. were not available during the war years. The iron rebar feet, the glass bead eyes, all suggest 1940's. An unusual piece. Measures 12 inches high and 12 inches long, the rebar feet are 4.5 inches to the ground, and the longest toe is 5.5 inches. In near mint condition. Thanks for shopping in the Land of Enchantment!
