Beautifully engraved Specimen certificate from the National Glass Company dated 1899. This historic document was printed by the Franklin-Lee Banknote Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of an allegorical boy holding a glass goblet. This item is over 103 years old. The National Glass Company was organized by Myron Case, Casey Morris, Addison Thompson, Andy Herron and Fred Rosemond. The National Glass Company (NGC) consolidated 19 prominent glass firms including the Indiana Tumbler and Goblet Company in 1899. At first it was thought that the combine would help to regulate prices, but in fact several companies were shut down. The National Glass Company had a difficult time of operating their 19 different glass factories from a centralised Head Office. In 1907, the National Glass Company experienced financial problems which ended in receivership for the company.
