Napoleon Portrait Oil Painting After DELAROCHE

Unavailable
This old oil on canvas depicting the emperor Napoleon is an exceptional copy after the original painting by Paul Hippolyte Delaroche (1797-1856). Frame measures 46.5" by 36.5" by 3.5" and stretcher measures 38.75" by 28.5". No signature has been found. There is a modest degree of craquelure and the canvas has been relined, probably sometime in the past twenty to thirty years, and it appears to have been newly framed at that time. Edges of the original canvas cannot be seen. (The white woven linen matte does show along the sides of the stretcher and should not be confused with the canvas.) We believe this painting dates from the nineteenth century. This painting was purchased at a small local auction in New Jersey in 2007 and we have no further information on provenance. This item resides on the Upper East Side of Manhattan ( New York City ) and may be seen by appointment.
Additional images gladly forwarded upon request.
