Purchased locally in Henderson, KY, from an estate sale, this excellent example of crewel embroidery was probably done in the 1960's or before. This historical picture depicts George Washington's Mt. Vernon estate. Every detail is executed perfectly with a wide array of different crewel embroidery stitches, a labor of love. Definitely an heirloom piece. The frame is a dark wood with some scratches and marks - it could be touched up or refinished - however it's wear adds to the vintage nature of the piece.
