Beautifully engraved certificate from the Monongahela Power and Railway Company issued in 1922. This historic document was printed by the Republic Banknote Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of a street car. This item is hand signed by the Companys President and Assitant Secretary and is over 80 years old.
Certificate Vignette In 1922, the West Penn Traction and Water Power Company, a subsidiary of American Water Works and Electric Company - the holding company that owned West Penn Railways and West Penn Power Company, changed its name to The West Penn Company. The controlling interest in Monongahela Power and Railway Company was transferred to The West Penn Company. In 1923, the name of Monongahela Power and Railway Company was changed to Monongahela West Penn Public Service Company.
