Mid Century Carstens W. German Art Pottery Vase

Unavailable
Elegant mid-20th century Carstens West German art pottery vase, with a tapering ovoid form and a complex glaze highlighted with lots of metallic gold, a little less than 8 inches high. This beautiful vase stands alone as a work of art. The glaze, difficult to describe, is metallic gold at the top, flowing down onto a whitish background, culminating in a deep, metallic chocolate brown at the base. The metallic gold forms two large metallic drips near the top and reappears in smaller organic forms along the vase exterior. There is a cascade of free-flowing dove gray, spotted ribbon-like vertical bands, outlining whitish amoeboid shapes. The interior of the vase appears deep brown or black. The bottom of the vase reveals red clay, and has a raised Carstens trademark above the numbers "476". This piece is in very good to excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, and minimal surface wear. Upon close inspection there are a handful of tiny glaze pops. Please refer to the 4 photographs for appearance and condition. Shipping and packaging will be $10.00.
