homes.
"Preserving the past for YOUR future"
Starting about seven years ago, my Grandfathers 1830's farmhouse was being
tore down. Or as everyone liked to call it, "The Old House". Seeing a part
of my family's history gone, we soon realized we needed to start saving
these structures; or at the very least, what was in them.
Not wasting time, there was an opportunity for us to salvage our very first
farm house, located less than a mile from our home. Before we knew it, the
property owner and us came to an agreement, and the structure and all that
was in it was ours to save. While in the process of taking the house down,
the realization of the time and effort that people before us put into the
construction of their homes was amazing. No power tools. No chaninsaws.
Only axes, handplanes and first-class craftsmanship.
Since that time, we have had the great opportunity to salvage seven homes.
We take great pride in salvaging everything from the slate on the roofs, to
the sandstone in the basements; and everything in between. Not only do we
take pride in the work we do, but its the pride our customers have when our
projects are complete, and his property is clean. Not even a trace that
there was a structure that had once stood there so many years before.
At Old School Antique Building Materials, we are trying our best to preserve
the past, not destroy it or our environment, by sending these structures to
the landfills where so many of them go.
We take pride in what we do and how we protect the "treasures" that we have
had the great opportunity to find, and strongly believe this is a Labor of
Love.
So, if you are so fortunate to live in one of these old structures are
looking to add an additional piece to your home, or if you truly are like
us, trying to keep the American Dream alive, then please take a look at our
growing inventory or call us if you have any questions. | | | |
