MEISSEN BLUE ONION SOUP TUREEN WITH UNDERPLATE

Unavailable
Circa 1920 German Meissen Blue Onion Soup Tureen with the original cover and the original underplate. This is a 20TH Century production of the very famous and well known blue oniuon pattern made in Germany originally in the 18TH Century. The mark is a later mark with the word meissen printed out in the glaze. The older mark dating back to the 18TH century were the crossed swords. Blue Onion Soup Tureens and other serving pieces are very rare and hard to find especially in the earlier crossed sword mark which this is Not. The underplate measures 15" X 10" AND THE TUREEN IS 16" FROM HANDLE TO HANDLE AND THE HEIGHT TO THE TOP OF THE FINIAL ON THE COVER IS 10 1/2". tHE OPENING OF THE TUREEN IS 11" x 8 3/4". Relatively in good condition with the exceptions of a few scratches that are hardly noticeable. This would make a great centerpiece on a dining room table or a sideboard or chest in a formal dining room. The opening on the cover is a ladle. We hace a white non matching ladle that we will include in the purchase of this tureen. Additional images are available upon request.
