McIntoch Ratchet Brace 10 inch Swing Antique

$35.00
Quantity available: 1
This is a nice 13.7" long ratchet brace with rosewood handles, and is a 10" swing. The swing handle is the split type with the pewter rings to hold it together. In good working condition, clean with a good two jaw chuck and jaws. The bare metal surfaces are very lightly pitted, but no rust. The maker's stamp can be seen, but is rather lite "MCINTOCH HEATHER NO.4410. The ratcheting system works good, can be locked or set for either direction. The chuck and jaws a much like the Peck, Stow, and Wilcox design, but the head handle spindle flange is different than the P.S. & W., this one has a split flange and flare ring that both spin, not sure the benefit, but spins smoothly. The rosewood is nice, some minor wear, a few dings, minor scratches, not cracked, nice looking overall. A nice clean early ratchet auger brace overall!
