Marx & Gutherz Porcelain Dish-Austrian Czech 1870s-80s
Description: Antique Porcelain Dish with Gilt and Painted Floral Decoration, Late 19C, by Marx & Gutherz in Carlsbad, Bohemia. The rectangular dish has sloping sides. The ground is white with flowers painted in autumnal reds and browns. The Rococo-style rim has gilt low-relief decoration. On the underside is stamped in red the mark that was in use at the Marx & Gutherz manufactory in the 1870s and '80s. (Cit.: Marks4ceramics.com) Dimensions: 2" High, 12" Wide, 4-3/4" Wide. Weight: 1-1/4 lbs. Condition: The dish is in good condition with no chips or cracks. Much of the gilding has worn away, though the painted decoration is bright and (mostly) intact. A nice piece by a little known Austrian Empire manufactory.
