MARBLEHEAD, DIMINUTIVE CORSETED VASE, MATTE YELLOW

For Sale I have a wonderful Art Pottery Vase made by The Marblehead Pottery Company of Marblehead, Mass. The Vase is known as a "Diminutive Corseted Vase" and it is done in a not so commonly found Matte Yellow Glaze. The Matte Yellow is a very pleasing color and has some speckling to it. I would tend to think this is caused by the Red Clay under neath a fairly thin Matte Yellow Glaze. This Vase is in a size and a shape you rarely find in Marblehead Pottery. The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks chips, nick or dings. The Vase is signed on the bottom with Marblehead's Impressed Ship Logo with the Capital Letters M and P for Marblehead Pottery on each side of the sails. This is truly a lovely piece and I'm sure those of you who collect Marblehead Pottery especially the Diminutive Sizes will surely welcome this into their Art Pottery Collection. I believe the Matte Yellow to be an earlier Glaze Color that Marblehead Produced. Marblehead Pottery was established in 1904 by Dr. Herbert J. Hall as a Studio Art Pottery in Marblehead, Massachusetts using the art and technique of ceramics manufacturing and decorating as a rehabilitation and therapeutic aid to local sanitarium patients at Hall's Devereux Mansion Sanitarium. Marblehead Pottery stopped producing Art Pottery in 1936. Marblehead Pottery was a small Pottery Company never employing more than 6 workers. Their Pottery is considered somewhat scare as compared to their Contemporaries of the day.
