A good quality French gilt bronze mantel clock. A rococo design case of heavy casting with sound fretwork to the front and sides. A convex enamel dial with fine gilt hands and blue numerals. An 8-day duration mechanism by Japay freres striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a bell. Signed to the mechanism 'Oppenheimer Paris' who worked at Rue St-Sabin in 1870. The case is signed by the retailer 'Whistler, 11, Strand' (London). Height 14" / 36cms Width 9 1/2 "/ 24cms Depth 5 " / 14cms.
