8 3/4" x 7 7/8" gelatin silver print. This is a created manikin with frilly leggings and skirt, lifting one skate. There are patterns on the ice made my her performing. There is no indication of scale. The skirt is lit from within, making it something like a lampshade. The Hungarian born Aigner is best known for his portraits of Einstein at Princeton. His photo journalism appeared in many magazines. Like much of his work, this has a sense of humor. While obviously a press print, this does not have an agency or publication stamp. Rather there is Eigner's own red Central Park West stamp on the verso, along with other notations and measurments in pencil, numbers in red crayon. The image is from ca. 1940 [?], but printed somewhat later. The print is rich, with signs of handling, especially at the corner tips.
