This netsuke is 100% SOLID MAMMOTH IVORY and in PERFECT CONDITION. It was HAND CARVED, HAND SCRIMSHAWED and SIGNED in China by a gifted master craftsman. This netsuke was carved in China as netsukes have been carved for many centuries a beautiful piece of art that will last you many lifetimes. Mammoth ivory is over 10,000 years old and comes from the tusk of the Woolly Mammoth found primarily in the frozen tundra of Siberia. This netsuke is UNIQUE and exhibits beautiful IVORY GRAIN showcasing the colors nature has chosen to bestow upon it. The ivory has been highly polished and exquisitely detailed. The quality of the ivory, the quality of the carving and the quality of the scrimshaw work are all exceptional. This is a realistic netsuke of a pig. The artist has done a wonderful job of realistically carving this wonderful piece. It is signed by the artist on the underside of this piece in Mother of Pearl.
