The Empire style began around 1804 in France, it offered amazing furniture designs during Napoleon's era.
This is a very heavy, solid mahogany frame Empire sofa from the early 1800's. The mahogany wood is rich and beautiful with carved sleigh sides and two scroll curved legs in front and two base legs in back. This piece has just been re- upholstered in rich burgundy mohair and velvet fabric with comfortable padded seat cushion, brass tacks accents, upholstered back with tassel ties on the side, and trimmed legs. This elegant sofa is fit for a king or queen and is very comfortable with incredible mahogany wood.  We also have another empire sofa that is very similar to match this one, willing to sell both please contact us for details.

Mohair fabric  is amazing luxurious silky fabric one of the oldest textile fibers in the world, made from Angora. This fabric it is exceptionally durable, very resilient, has a sheen to it ,  adapts to a comfortable temperature, it will keep you warm in the winter yet cool in the summer,  also has other incredible properties including flame resistant, crease resistant and is nick named the Diamond fiber. This is a high end material but worth every penny to offer the best original fabric for antiques, quality, durability, beauty and comfort.
 

Condition, Good, wood is in amazing shape for age, flaws as you would except from age and use nothing major, fabric is brand new.
