This solid mahogany end table is in the Chippendale style. This stand has wonderful detailing and excellent carvings. The square top has a rope or gadrooned carved edge with acanthus leaves in each corner. Below the top is a shapely skirt with deep, intricate carvings. The tall serpentine shaped legs have acanthus leaf carvings on the knees and extending half way down to the feet. The legs end in boldly carved ball and claw feet. The table has a single hand dovetailed drawer with a moulded lip. The cast brass ring pulls with lion heads are original. The table retains its original finish, which is in excellent condition, having a deep, rich color and patina.
