What an exceptional custom Chippendale style desk. The design, deep carvings, construction and condition makes it a stand out! The shaped top has a moulded edge with twist quarter columns in 6 corners. The center drawer has a deeply carved fan design. The 2 drawers on either side have raised paneled fronts and their original working locks. All the drawers are hand dovetailed and have their original heavy cast brass pulls. Check out the back of the desk with the raised and recessed finished panels. It is designed to be seen from all 4 sides if desired. The desk rests on tall serpentine shaped legs with deeply carved acanthus leaves on the knees and boldly carved ball and claw feet. The top has some scratches located all in one area. The finish is original and in excellent condition. The color is a deep, rich mahogany with a warm patina. What a perfect size for home or office.
