Check out this custom small sized solid mahogany chest on chest in the Chippendale style. This chest was made by the Charak Furniture Company out of Boston, Mass. They were a highly regarded company that labeled, numbered and dated all of their pieces. Its small size, quality, detailed construction and exceptional choice mahogany woods make this chest on chest a stand out. The top half has 2 small drawers over 3 long graduated drawers. There are stylized shell carvings on the top 2 drawers. The base has 3 more long drawers which also graduate in size. All the cast brass hardware is original. Notice the beautifully carved twisted quarter columns in the front corners and the delicate rope carvings along the bottom of the base chest. There is a small ½” area of loss in the rope carving located above the left front foot. It is only noticeable upon close examination and truly not an issue. The tall chest rests on boldly carved ball and claw feet. The finish is original and in excellent condition having a deep, rich color and warm patina.
