This beautiful mahogany 5 tube grandfather clock was made by the well-respected Colonial Clock Co.. The unusual case has a Chinese Chippendale influence in its design. The ornately carved crest, intricate mouldings, incised carvings and faux bamboo pillars add to its unique styling. The clock retains its original silvered dial with cast brass numerals and ornate hour and minute hands. In addition there is a sweep second hand. The original 8 day works are in excellent running condition. The clock strikes the time every hour on one tube. In addition, the clock has 4 tubes which play the stanzas to the lovely Westminster chimes every quarter hour. The tubes have a wonderful sound quality. The long case has a beveled glass door which displays the 5 tubes, the brass pendulum and the 2 large brass weights. The case base has a delicate gadrooned or rope carving along the base and rests on tall bracket feet. The finish is original and in very good condition, but does have some alligator or roughness. The color on the case is a deep, rich mahogany. The clock comes with its original winding key which is required only once a week.
