We offer a terrific brooch made in yellow and green gold and weighing close to 2 oz. To the front in the centre of this essentially rectangular piece is a plaque of a young girl. Beneath is written Schweiz. Surrounding it is terrifically worked gold with enameled flowers. There are alsoleaves.Much of the gold is worked in almost a filagree pattern. To the rear is a type of pin and clasp mechanism that can be removed. The clasp permits the brooch to be suspended on a wide ribbon, while the large pin with a locking mechanism permits it to be worn on a piece of clothing. It is suggested that the locking mechanism is early 2oth century. It comes in a fitted box. The box is marked with the following signature: Kirk &Company, (Limited) Art Jewellery, Hull, Leeds, Liverpool.
