I bought this from a Maasai moran (warrior) in 1960. That was before the Maasai changed their mode of dress and living. The spear supposedly killed a lion. The warror put the bottom shaft of the spear against the instep and the lion impaled itself as the spear was held at an angle. Go Antiques has no good category for this, but it was puchased on the Maasai Steppes in northern Tanzania. It was an old spear when I bought it. I have showed in the photos how it can be disassembled. The Peace Corps Volunteers called this a VW spear because it could be taken apart and put in a VW 'bug'The shaft measures about 34 inches and the spear point about 42 inches.I will take other photos if needed.
