Weighs 46.66 g / 3 dwt / 1.5 ozt Company name: Alvin Pattern name: Chateau Rose Piece: Fork Date introduced: 1940 Metal: Sterling silver Condition: Pre-owned The Alvin Silver Manufacturing Company were located in New Jersey when they were founded in 1886. They had a reputation for making superior sterling silver flatware, hollowware and exquisite toiletry articles in sterling silver, such as ornate and beautiful hand mirrors. Nine years after their founding they moved to Sag Harbor, New York where their goal was to create sterling flatware based on historically significant themes and patterns. Colonial reproductions which were very popular at the time made them the focus of competitor Gorham who also created such lovely patterns. Since Gorham couldn’t beat them, they bought them out in 1928 and now Alvin is a division of Gorham.
