This is a good used Master Planer Gauge marked "THE LUFKIN RULE CO. SAGINAW MICH. MADE IN USA NO. 900". It is in very good condition with a working level. It has a few small areas with minor staining, but otherwise it is very clean, no rust no damage, nicely precision ground surfaces. Included is one 3.000" extension shaft, and the round shaft is threaded, so it can be attached in both vertical and horizontal positions as there is 4 different tapped holes provide for it to thread into. The purpose of this tool is to be able to set a dimension with a height gage or micrometer, by sliding the angular slide either up or down and securing it at the correct dimension, then the dimension can be transfered to another application. Lufkin no longer makes this tool, it still has usefull purpose in toolmaking today, this one is from around 1940. We have many Lufkin tools for sale at this site, as the machinist tools are no longer being manufactured, they have become collectible. Lufkin made very good quality precision tools over the years, this being one of them.
