Lufkin No. 42 Ship Carpenters' Bevel

Quantity available: 1
This is a hard to find bevel that was designed to transfer angles to the work piece of a ship carpenter. Both Stanley and Lufkin made these and both had the same number. The one is marked "LUFKIN NO. 42 MADE IN USA". This one is 12 long x .75 wide x .37 thick, and is very clean with good crisp numbers and brass blades and hardware. It does have a hairline crack that is very tight shown in the third picture. There is a smaller one on the other side and it is also very tight. The cracks do not brake through to the face where the numbers are on either side. This is a very solid bevel even though it has the hairlines, it is very stiff even when I apply bending presure to the center. I feel that it's in very good condition overall, as most of these I've seen are cracked well beyond this amount. Other wear and marks are minimal with seven tiny pin pricks on on the one side, seen under close inspection. Also the light crease below the Lufkin name and the stain below the 42.
Lufkin bevels are as hard to find as Stanley, this one will make a nice addition to any collection!
