THOMAS NEVITT, BRISTOL Circa 1810
A fine quality Bristol moon phase longcase clock. A red walnut case of slim proportions with a Bristol area swan-neck pediment and wavy trunk raised panel. Brass capped hood columns and Greek key detail to the hood. A very attractive arched painted dial with birds and gilt corners. A date aperture, seconds dial and lunar moon phases to the arch. A rare feature on a painted dial of strike/silent to the dial side. An 8-day mechanism striking the hours on a bell.
Thomas Nevill of Bristol is recorded in AJ Moores' 'The clockmakers of Bristol' book as working 1805-1818.
