Lois Ireland Farm Scene Painting 30" x 34" 1951 Wisconsin Regionalist
Lois Ireland (Zwettler) mixed media farm scene painting under glass with frame, dated 1951. Appears to be a watercolor, with gouache and pastels as highlights. From my research, the artist was a student of John Steuart Curry in Wisconsin. Born in 1928, she was a regionalist painter involved with the Rural Art Program. She had a few exhibits of her work, and later married in 1958, to a man named Zwettler. The overall framed size is 30"h x 34"w; the size of the exposed area is 19" x 25", but has not been opened to see how far the painting extends beyond the matte. It was last framed at Helen's of Winter Haven, Florida, likely in the 1960s-70s. In very good condition with no major issues. I apologize for my photos lack of clarity, as they were taken indoors without flash due to the glass reflection. Please contact me for shipping cost prior to payment.
