A very rare pair of Edwardian platinum and 18K white gold earrings set with rose cut diamonds and suspending long natural green jadeite drops. The jadeite has medium light coloring, with light mottling and good translucence. The overall effect is very delicate and would have well-suited the lighter clothing of the early Edwardian era. Both earrings are marked “18ct/Pt” and one of the then is faintly marked “L & Co.” for Liberty & Co., one of the most important English jewelers at the turn of the 20th century. The delicacy and bright color of these earrings would have been most appropriate for a fashionable young woman wearing the new fashions of the Edwardian era. The earrings are presented in their original fitted box, the silk interior imprinted “Liberty/London-Paris/By Special Appointment”. The earrings retain their original screw-backs, which could be changed to posts without disturbing the signature.
Origin: England, ca. 1905. Condition: excellent, all original; the box shows considerable external wear. Dimensions: 1-7/8” long. Approximate Total Diamond Weight: .06 ct. Weight: 5.9 grams.
