One additional item available. Unusual late 19th century black leather box with gold tooling surrounding the lid a well as two triangular and one round piece of open work jade inlaid into the top. The wood interior houses 4 compartments with brass blank ,for insertion of new item names,name plates above each. Solid brass hinge. Paper seal on the bottom of the box as the "Preference Chest".Quite often this term referred to a box that held packs of cigarettes and probably held in the brass name plates labeled Camels,Chesterfield,Lucky Strike and Old Gold. The wood liner for freshness. Bottom is lined with black felt. Wonderful box for use as a man's valet or desk accessory despite the tiny spots of worn leather. Measures 10L X 4D X 2.75H. Also good for jewelry artisans to hold supplies or just as a handsome accent piece with storage.
