Leach Saw Set Pliers 1870's

$35.00
Quantity available: 1

This is a very early patented saw tooth setter marked "S.F. LEACH & CO. SOLE MANUF'RS BOSTON MASS." on the adjustable sheet metal guide that is mounted to the top of the saw set. This tool was originally patented JAN. 19, 1869, and some of the earliest models had the patent date marked on them, this one doesn't. This tool is in good working condition with some minor pitting, but in fully functional condition. They are 7" long overall, and the spring loaded handle is still working after over 100 years. An unusual design with a triangular shape tooth setting bar that pivots from a center pin when the handles are brought together. Truly a unique saw set, of which I see very few of lately.
