Late Federal Period Carved Mahogany Lyre Clock by David Wood, Newburyport, Massachusetts

Unavailable

Carved American lyre clock, mahogany, with distinctive movement by David Wood as pictured in Foley's Banjo Clock book. Pendulum, weight, convex glass, hands, all original. Dial appears to be original with early repainted surface. Shadowing of an Aaron Willard signature that once was there. This is a wonderful example of a carved lyre clock with the bezel carved completely around. This clock's mechanics can definitely be attributed to David Wood, Newburyport, Massachusetts and dates to circa 1825.
