Late 18th-early 19th Century Chinese Export Parrots

Unavailable

Late eighteenth to early nineteenth century blue glaze Chinese export birds (parrots) in wonderful condition, completely intact including tongues. When we purchased these they were painted yellow. I knew from the bottom that traces of the original blue glaze could be seen. We had the yellow removed professionally and the most wonderful original blue glaze beneath was revealed. You can see traces of this yellow from underneath in one of the photos as it got in under the weep holes in the porcelain when someone painted them probably in the early twentieth century. It so happened that the over paint kept the original surface in perfect condition as can be seen in the photos.
