Measuring 40 inches high, and just short of 13 inches wide, this 19th Century barometer is in excellent condition, having just been serviced by one of the leading experts in this country, Barometer Fair, of Sarasota, Florida.
The body of the barometer is mahogany, and the wood retains its original finish. The porcelain face is flawless, and the barometer is working perfectly, and is extremely sensitive. The thermometer is not original, but excellent, and the glass over the thermometer is missing. The hygrometer ( Damp-Dry) is probably not working (hard to tell) as these early instruments relied on a piece of plant fiber to operate. However, replacement instruments, of the period, are readily available.
This is a lovely and functional instrument, that would complement any décor, and any home.
This barometer cannot be shipped without removing the long tube containing the mercury. It is available for pick up in Mount Dora, Florida (just north of Orlando), or arrangements can be made for free delivery in the Southeast, as we travel in Georgia, and occasionally into the Carolinas, in our search for outstanding antiques.
