Large Terrier Dog Figurines - Royal Doulton

Unavailable
Pair of large rough haired terrier figurines, one standing and one sitting, from the family estate of R. E. Olds in Lansing, Michigan. The standing terrier is a Royal Doulton bone china figurine, about 7.5 inches high and over 10 inches long, titled "Crackley Startler"; it has "HN 1007" and "D" painted in black on the bottom of the left forefoot. This piece is said to date to the 1930's. It is in very good condition, with no chips or cracks. There is a very small nick, under the glaze, on the left ear, and there may be some glaze crazing although it is difficult to determine because of the rough haired nature of the dog. Overall, it is a beautifully rendered animal study.

The companion piece measures a little over 7 inches high in a sitting position. It is very similar to and said to be the same vintage as the Royal Doulton piece. It is signed on the bottom (see photograph), but with no indication of manufacturer. The figurine is slightly less detailed than the standing figure although individual hairs are more visibly prominent on this piece. Condition is very good. There is some glaze crazing on the bottom of one foot, and small areas on the left fore and hind feet where the glaze is less glossy. These very handsome dogs are being offered as a pair, as that is how they came from the estate. Please refer to the 4 photographs for appearance and condition. Shipping / packaging will be $15.00.
