Large Old Birdseye Maple Munising Wooden Bowl

Unavailable
Large vintage birdseye sugar maple Munising dough bowl, with heavy birdseye markings, circa 1940's or earlier. The Munising Wood Products company produced wooden bowls from 1915 to 1955 in the town of Munising, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The bowls were made of premium hardwood, usually maple. Birdseye maple, with its distinctive pattern, is very durable and rare. The cause of this unusual variation is unknown. The most plentiful source is the sugar maple grown in the Great Lakes area. This collectible bowl has a slightly oval shape and measures approximately 4 inches high, 13.5 inches wide, and 12.75 inches deep. This bowl lives up to Munising Wood Products advertising: "The finest kitchen woodenware"; "Munising bowls last a lifetime." (See the Alger County, Michigan website for more information about Munising wooden bowls.) The bowl is in very good condition, with no cracks or chips. There are some knife and production marks, and surface wear. Please refer to the 4 photographs for appearance and condition. Shipping / packaging will be $12.00.
