Antique primitive 1898 Cremo cigar humidor / shipping case from the Spanish-American War. This metal-lined shipping case from Cuba has a metal and wood exterior, and measures approximately 28.5 inches wide, 22.5 inches deep, and 14.5 inches high. It weighs approximately 43 pounds. The shipping case is equipped with a moisturizer and 2 purifiers in the lid, ventilators and metal carrying handles on the two ends, and an iron latch. On the lid, it advertises "CREMO", "THE WORLD'S BEST CIGAR", and on the front, "ALWAYS IN PERFECT CONDITION." Also on the lid are instructions in 5 languages. In English, the "Directions" state "If climate is dry, moisten the pad in top of lid. If climate is wet, the dry pad will absorb surplus moisture." On each end is "CREMO", "THE WORLD'S LARGEST SELLER." Also on each end is a round ventilator with the words "OPEN VENTILATOR IF CIGARS BECOME TOO MOIST." The shipping case appears to be made of wood, with metal covering the top and 4 sides. It is in good primitive condition. Surface wear and oxidation is apparent. The body of the case is solid; the metal covering is somewhat loose in places but still securely attached. Please refer to the 4 photographs for appearance and condition. Shipping / packaging / handling will be $30 - $60, depending upon zipcode of the buyer.
