Large  Antique Chinese Pan Silk Iron Open Coal Bronze 18th c. Reticulated Top Edge.   I believe that it is meant to use with hot coals in the pan.    Not sure if the perforated metal has any purpose other than decorative.   The wood handle is original.  The bronze is very dark from use and age.  Plus there is some tarnish or something probably from being  heated.    It is about 18" long  and 5" high.   

I am not an Asian Antique expert and cannot tell you what era it is from.
