Large Antique Art Deco Period Sarreguemines French Bronze Mounted Cobalt Glazed Ceramic Pot Vase

Unavailable

This delightful and large ceramic pot from Sarreguemines of Lorraine France with rich cobalt blue glaze measures approximately 23" across, and features a bronze collar with geometric stars and stylized leaves, and handles decorated with ceramic spheres to match the vase.  Condition is good.  This is estate-fresh, and has light surface grime and there is oxidation to the bronze that is consistent with age.  One original nut holding one of the spheres in place is missing and been temporarily replaced with conventional zinc metal nut.  A proper replacement may be fashioned by a skilled metal conservator, and we will be happy to help source a replacement if our customer desires prior to shipment.  Dating back to the late 18th century, the pottery at Sarreguemines originally produced earthenware, but by the fourth quarter of the 19th century were producing fine glazed stoneware, and by the 20th century fine porcelain as well.  We believe this pot is fashioned of porcelain.
