Large 1934 Handmade Mazatlan, Mexico Pottery Water Jug

Unavailable
Large 1934 pottery water jug from Mazatlan, Mexico in earthy reds, blues, and black. Mazatlan is a seaside resort known as the "Pearl of the Pacific". This distinctive piece may have produced for the early tourist trade. It appears to be handmade using the coil method, and hand painted. The jug measures a little over 12 inches high and a little over 7 1/2 inches in diameter. The geometric design has somewhat of an Aztec look. The blue areas have a matte-like finish and the reddish areas are glossier. The reddish bands are also somewhat raised. Written in script on the bottom is "Mazatlan Mexico, Jan. 1934". Condition is very good for its age, with some paint and glaze wear. There is a very small nick on the top inside rim; otherwise, there are no chips or cracks. Overall, it's a very solid piece. Please refer to the 4 photographs for appearance and condition. Shipping / packaging will be $15.00.
