This is a Saratoga Chip Server in the Gorham pattern , Lancaster Rose. Saratoga Chip servers were invented in Saratoga Springs NY _ late 19th century -- to serve potato chips -- thin wafers of potato - fried in deep fat . It is monogrammed with a "B". This pattern was designed in the height of the Victorian era-1893, when the Gorham Company made every piece imaginable. We have an extensive collection of this pattern. More pics on request -
