For Sale I have a lovely piece of Art Glass made by Wilhelm Kralik Sohn of Eleonorenhain Bohmen (Bohemia). This is now modern day "Czechoslovakia". I Have a Gourd Shaped Art Glass Vase that is just beautiful. These type vases are often confused with Loetz or Rindskopf but this is a documented Form and Iridescence Finish by Kralik.
The Vase displays one of the nicest iridescent finishes I have seen on a Kralik piece of Art Glass in quite some time. The Texture and finish reminded me of some of L.C.T. Tiffany Favrile's Cypriote Glass made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The Textured Iridescence Blue Green Background with Purple/Fuchsia Swirls also reminded of the texture of the Chipped Ice Reverse Painted Shades. The Colors are Brilliant. When held to the light it appears to be an Applied Blood Red on their Green Clear Glass which seems to change color with different lights. It lights one way under a fluorescent and another with an incandescent or regular light bulb.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips, or dings. The Vase is not signed but it has a very nicely polished top lip. This means the piece was blown from the top, and not the bottom. This was typical of Kralik as their American Contemporaries blew almost all of their Vases from the bottom. This explains the Countersunk Polished Pontil on those pieces.
This is a beautiful Vase and I'm sure the lucky Buyer will cherish in their collection. The colors are just wonderful. The piece was made in the early 1900's circa 1905-1920.
