KPM Porcelain Portrait Plaque of Rembrandt & Wife

Unavailable

This porcelain plaque by KPM, after the original oil painted by Rembrandt in 1635, depicts the painter and his wife, Saskia. Plaque measures 5 by 6.8 inches and resides in a period frame measuring 11.5 by 13.5 by 3 inches.    We have not removed the plaque for closer inspection and are selling the item as-is.  Condition of the surface is very good. There is a small area of blunt force damage near the lower left corner, and a thin scrape along the botton edge in the center.  Plaque has its original paper label from Goupil's (Goupils et Cie) of Fifth Avenue in New York.  From the middle of the nineteenth century Goupil's was one of the leading retailers of fine art in Paris, and eventually opened galleries in New York and throughout europe.
