This is a large master or carving knife cut crystal knife rest made in England 1870-1890s. The hand cut crystal knife holder measures 1.5 inches high by 4.75 inches long and is in a barbell shape with a hexagonal bar and faceted ball ends. The knife rest has been used quite a bit and has numerous fleabites on the facets and beveling of the bar but is in good +++ condition. The knife rest is a wonderful piece of victoriana and the ingenuity of a gadget that is both a practical way to keep the tablecloth as well as an aesthetically pleasing decorative item.
