This is a beautiful ten-piece 900 silver serving set, comprised of a large fish platter, two slightly smaller serving platters, covered serving dish, gravy boat, and four open salts with shovel-shaped salt spoons. All pieces are in great condition and have been designed in the neo-classical style. The four caviar dishes sit on octagonal bases, each end accented by applied floral swag, and each side by a pair of octagonal medallions; one showing a floral scene, the other shows a young nymph with Cupid. All pieces have been decorated on each side (on each end of the platters) with a neo-classical figural motif, each one is a different scene surrounded by a pretty border. The covered dish has an octagonal lid which has an organic form for its handle; the inside of the dish holds a removable eight-sided sterling silver insert which can be taken out to be used as an additional serving bowl. Each piece is stamped with Austrian hallmarks and the name J.C. Klinkosch (initialized as JCK on the smaller pieces instead). All measurements on the pieces are approximate; The fish platter: 30” x 11”, two smaller platters: 23” x 14” & 20” x 13”, the circular platter: 12 ½” in diameter, covered dish: 12” x 9” x 4”, gravy boat: 9” x 6” x 4”, and the caviars: 2 ¾” x 3” x 2 ¼” each. The set weighs approx. 315 troy ounces.
