Beautiful set of King Albert pattern sterling silver flatware by Whiting and Gorham. This listing is for a service for eight (8), a total of 40 pieces of sterling silver.
King Albert is an elegant pattern of beveled and beaded lines with a bell flower hanging from a Chippendale style pediment at the top of the handle. It is named in honor of heroic Albert I, King of the Belgians who personally lead his army against vastly superior German forces in one of the first actions of World War I.
The pattern was introduced by Whiting in 1919. Gorham continued producing the pattern after buying Whiting in 1926.
The set includes:
8 "Old French" Dinner Knives (stainless steel blade): 8 5/8 inches
8 Dinner Forks: 7 1/4 inches
8 Salad Forks: 6 1/4 inches
16 Teaspoons: 5 7/8 inches
All pieces in very good used condition. No dings or dents. Only some scratching from use, but no other damage.
All pieces marked STERLING with Gorham maker's mark as seen in photo. Six (6) salad forks bear the Whiting mark.
