Julia Maria King is a Hungarian-American artist who specializes in European-style oil paintings. In 1956, her parents, true Hungarian patriots, were forced to flee Hungary during the “seven Days of Freedom” uprising against the Russian occupation. In December of 1957, after finding refuge in Switzerland Julia was born. A few years later she and her parents immigrated to a Hungarian community in the northeast United States. Julia’s paintings transport you back to a time in European history when life was harsh but simple, unpredictable but full of love. Many of the themes which emerge in her paintings are definite reminders of a culture that shaped her childhood and instilled in her a passion for all things European. Julia’s soft style is colorful and full of texture. She loves the impressionistic view of the world and is always working to perfect that image of life. Her paintings are a pleasure to view and add a touch of class and sophisticated refinement to our sometimes less than perfect world.
